The Brick Wall Historical Society is a project dedicated to sharing good comedy with people who don’t always know where to find it. The two main parts of the project are an album-of-the-week series and a Los Angeles comedy calendar that I keep updated.
The album-of-the-week series highlights, as you may have guessed, comedy albums that I think people should listen to. I will be utilizing Spotify links in order to make listening to each album free and painless as possible. Hopefully this will make it easier for people who don’t aren’t particularly well versed in comedy to branch out and discover things they’ll like.
The comedy calendar will focus on recommending a single show going on in LA for each day. I choose to stick to a one-a-day style of curation because I find that people who aren’t already familiar with the LA comedy scene have a hard time determining which show show to go to, especially when the choice is generally based on a lineup of unfamiliar names. I will likely be featuring a lot of stand up shows here (simply because it’s what I know best) but I hope to highlight Los Angeles’s rich community of improv and sketch groups as well. Every show I list is one that I would go to myself. If I’m completely unsure of what a show is going to be like, I will do my best to say so in the description.
Happy Listening.
